YouTube and Google Cookies That Will Be Deleted Soon<\/h2>\n

This website does not serve advertisements or collect data to personalise your browsing for advertising purposes.<\/p>\n

However, when we embedded YouTube videos on this website, aiming to allow visitors to watch them without leaving the post, YouTube installed more than ten cookies on our blog.<\/p>\n

So, we are deleting all embedded YouTube videos from the entire platform so that these cookies are also deleted. This process is ongoing.<\/p>\n

YouTube collects this data, does not share it with us, and, in doing so, invades the privacy of our readers. In addition, YouTube suggests other videos at the end of the embedded video. If the blog reader clicks on any algorithm suggestions, they are taken to the YouTube website in another window.<\/p>\n

There is no way to escape this venal YouTube business model, which is based on surveillance capitalism<\/em> and the attention economy<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We also currently use Google Analytics to collect anonymised statistics on access to our website. However, to offer this service, Google also installs cookies on the blog, aiming to collect information about our visitors.<\/p>\n

Google Analytics has been declared illegal in several European Union countries as far as GDPR is concerned.<\/p>\n

For all these reasons, we are testing three other website access statistics services that respect your privacy and comply with the main data protection laws in force.<\/p>\n

Therefore, advertising cookies, in addition to other types installed by YouTube and Google Analytics, will soon be deleted from this platform.<\/p>\n

We are aware that by ceasing to use Google Analytics, we are reducing the statistical information we can obtain about our visitors. We are also at risk of having our content’s ranking compromised by these search engines. Not only because we deleted Google Analytics, but because we openly criticised these companies in our content. However, if this happens, it is the price to pay for having character.<\/p>\n
