This is an English language training project structured by Ana Cecilia Rocha Veiga, professor at Federal University of Minas Gerais, (UFMG), Brazil.
Update: This project continues as a permanent education program in the English language, where the tasks not completed throughout the year 2022 will continue to be carried out. This website, however, will remain online, without updates, for educational purposes only.

Description
The use of English in Brazilian fields of humanities and applied social sciences has faced and continues to face resistance. The reasons for this go far beyond issues of language fluency, covering dilemmas associated with Eurocentrism and US influences in our culture, decolonisation of discourse, and accessibility of knowledge to the native population. Studying and understanding these issues is the goal of this phase.1/7 Completed Tasks

- Read the British Council Brazil’s reports and surveys about the use of English in the country.
- Study decolonisation topics.
- Study the impact of the English language domain in the diffusion and classification process of journals and other scientific publications.

- Establish a reflective position on English used in the Brazilian academic context, identifying the advantages and disadvantages of adopting this language in our higher education.
