A female holding a cup with the phrase: Enjoy the little things.
Simple Desire - Luciana Mello (Simples Desejo)

What about opening the door of the day?
Enter without asking for permission,
without stopping to think.
Think about nothing.

It's cool to smile for nothing,
to smile at anyone,
to wander aimlessly on the street.

To live and to see
it doesn't take much.
Attention: the lesson
is in every gesture.
It's in the sea, in the air,
in the shine of your eyes.

I don't want it all at once.
I just have a simple desire...
I want the day to end well today.
Today, I just want the day to end very well.

I love ending the day by wandering around Praça da Liberdade (Liberty Square) and listening to this music. Surrounded by palm trees, flowers, museums, and libraries, I try to remember the small joys of that day and be grateful for each one.

Liberty Palace Museum, at the end of a beautiful Autumn day…

Notes

This song is on my Reflections playlist in my Apple Music Profile.

Simples Desejo on Luciana Mello Channel. Lyrics in Portuguese.

This pagode rhythm version, sung by Thiaguinho and Gilberto Gil, is so beautiful! This video is also on Apple Music.

Translating is transcreating. I translated not word for word but the poetic meaning of the music, being faithful to the author’s probable intention. If you have suggestions for improvement, please get in touch by clicking here.
