A Hora e a Vez (Boca Livre) - The prey's turn, the hunter's moment
See the twists and turns love has to take
Afraid to reach the destination
Pays a promise never made
Speaking the truth while telling a lie
And there’s no turning back, no turning back
Looking in the mirror, seeing only love
Now knowing peace is lost
Casting the lasso and getting caught
The unexpected has happened
The turn of the prey and the moment of the hunter
I didn’t know that it was for real
Until the day I found you
We know love has no sense
But it plays with spells, and when we least expect it
It’s going to be you, the owner of my heart
It’s going to be you
Music in an Image
Even before our first date, Beto was already talking to me about marriage. On February 29, 2004—after we had been dating for nearly a year—we went to the Rancho do Boi (Ox Ranch) restaurant for dinner. During our long conversation there, we made a passionate decision to do everything in our power to get married as soon as possible—a goal we realised in 2006. We returned to the restaurant in 2024 with our children, which is when I took this photo. And now, we are celebrating 20 years of marriage! I chose this image for The prey’s turn, the hunter’s moment because it is our song.

Notes
Our favourite version of this song is the one recorded by the group Boca Livre, available on Apple Music or YouTube.
The phrase “the prey’s turn, the hunter’s moment” was translated literally and conveys the same implied meaning within the lyrics as the English expression “the hunter becomes the hunted.”
Translating is transcreating. I translated not word for word but the poetic meaning of the music, being faithful to the author’s probable intention. If you have suggestions for improvement, please get in touch by clicking here.
